Goal

Commission checklist for Adora

  1. Ring the bell and read the brief

Customers arrive when you summon them. Before spending anything, note the occasion and the style the request is asking for — the brief is what the finished dress is judged against.

  2. Measure the customer

Each character is measured and the mannequin adjusted to fit them, with pattern pieces drafted from those measurements. Do not reuse the previous customer’s layout unthinkingly.

  3. Plan in the design book

Mix and match bodices, sleeves, collars and skirts, colour the design, and pin fabric swatches and appliqué ideas — all before buying cloth. Component names are clickable, so read before you commit.

  4. Buy fabric and accessories

Take stock of what you own, then shop for the rest. Editorial suggestion (subjective, based on real-world character): silk or velvet for grand occasions, wool for warmth, cotton or linen for everyday wear. The game publishes no per-fabric stats, and a review suggests at least five metres of material per dress.

  5. Cut with intent

Find the grain or the bias of each piece, then arrange the pattern pieces and cut, wasting as little cloth as you can. The cut shows in the finished garment, and each panel may use a different fabric.

  6. Preview and sew on the mannequin

Check the assembled pattern on the mannequin, then stitch panel by panel at the machine. Pick your thread colour from the spools, and take the seams slowly — mistakes cost dress quality.

  7. Decorate freely

Buttons, bows, appliqué and lace trims go exactly where you place them. Match the customer’s requested style before adding personal flair; trims are tracked by length as well as by count.

  8. Deliver and inspect

Delivery pays reputation and coin, and an accepted commission pays even if the dress fails. Dresses carry a measurable quality percentage — 100% quality earns the achievement 99 Problems But A Stitch Aint One.

Goal: satisfy. Meet the requested style, aim for high quality, and deliver — reputation and coin are the confirmed rewards.

This planner runs on static rules derived from the official loop. Fabric suggestions are editorial and subjective; no in-game values exist to compute with.

What this calculator actually computes

Dressmaker publishes no prices, stats or formulas, so there is nothing numeric to calculate honestly. What this tool does instead is sequence: it maps the official commission loop — bell, measurements, design book, fabric, cutting, sewing, decorating, delivery — onto the customer and goal you pick, and flags every editorial suggestion as subjective. When official numbers exist, this page will carry them.

Where these facts come from

This site is built from three official sources: the Steam store listing, Steam’s global achievement statistics and the developer’s own Steam announcements. Everything they state is quoted or paraphrased with the source cited; anything none of them states — per-fabric stats, hidden achievement conditions, what sabotage changes — is marked Unconfirmed rather than filled in. Nothing here is sourced from community wikis or datamining, and generated illustrations are labelled as such.

  • Official Dressmaker on Steam (app 4019220) — The official store listing, read September 29, 2026. Source of the release date (September 21, 2026), the $14.99 price, Windows/Mac support, language support (English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese with full audio), the single-player/casual-simulation classification, the named fabrics (cotton, linen, wool, silk, velvet), the decoration types (buttons, bows, appliqué, lace trims), the sketchbook, mannequin, grain/bias cutting, window-display and "satisfy (or sabotage!)" mechanics, the official system requirements, the interface feature flags (Mouse Only Option, Playable without Timed Input, Custom Volume Controls, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing), the Steam Deck compatibility rating shown on the store page, the review summary (Overwhelmingly Positive), the six bundles the game ships in, and the Screenhub pull quote.
  • Official Dressmaker — Steam global achievement statistics — Steam’s official global achievement stats for app 4019220, read September 29, 2026. Source of the full 32-achievement list, each achievement’s official description (where one is published — hidden achievements show none), the global unlock percentages quoted across this site, and the achievement icons displayed on the achievements page. The percentages are live and drift as more players unlock; the figures here are the ones Steam showed that day.
  • Official Dressmaker — developer announcements on Steam — The Dressmaker team’s own announcement feed on Steam, read September 29, 2026. Source of the content roadmap from the launch post (September 21, 2026: an online challenge mode, transparent fabrics, controller support, and planned mobile and Switch ports), the price post (September 7, 2026: $14.99 with regional pricing and a -10% launch discount, approximately 35 hours of story commissions, over 150 dress pieces, over 450 fabrics and over 350 accessories, and more free content to come), the monthly development posts (per-character measuring and pattern drafting, custom fabric shaders, the off-the-rack feature, nine of ten characters illustrated, each with an over-the-top personality, and the team credits), and the two post-launch patch notes (Build 403 on September 22, 2026 and Build 410 on September 24, 2026).
  • Press review Screenhub — Dressmaker review (five stars) — Leah J. Williams’ five-star review for Screenhub, published September 15, 2026 — the review quoted on the Steam store page. Source of the order of operations on a commission (measurements, design book, emporium, cutting, sewing on the mannequin), the brief-and-style-score system, the five-metres-per-dress guidance, the cutting and sewing mini-games, the note that sewing mistakes reduce dress quality, and the progression from opening dresses to tiered gowns.
Questions

Calculator questions

Is the Dressmaker commission calculator accurate?

Its steps are the game’s own order of operations, so the sequence is accurate. Fabric recommendations are editorial suggestions based on real-world fabric character — the game publishes no per-fabric stats to compute with.

Which customers can I plan for?

All ten named customers: Adora, Alice, Dorothy, Edith, Fiona, Marie, Priya, Prudence, Rose and Vivian. Each has a major-commissions storyline confirmed by its achievement.

What does the sabotage goal do?

The official store description says you can "satisfy (or sabotage!)" townsfolk but gives no mechanics, so the sabotage path here is labelled Unconfirmed and offers the same confirmed loop with the honest caveat.

Does the calculator need an internet connection?

No. It is plain HTML and JavaScript running in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
