Lace Trim is an accessory, not a fabric
The official Steam listing names lace trims as one of the decoration types — alongside buttons, bows and appliqué — which are accessories pinned onto a finished dress, not materials you sew from. Lace fabric (such as Ivory Lace) is a different thing entirely: a cloth that feeds style scores like Gothic and Romantic. A Lace Trim requirement is measured in centimetres, and only trim accessories count. The official achievement list backs the measurement itself — Trim and Proper asks for more than 50 metres of trim on a single dress, confirming the game tracks trim by length.
- Lace Trim = accessory, bought in the Accessories corner of the shop and pinned onto a finished dress.
- Lace fabric = a material you sew the dress from; it feeds style scores, not the centimetre counter.
- Trust the Lace Trim filter, not the item name — community reports confirm some items with "lace" in the name do not carry the tag.
Getting Lace Trim to register
The workflow community guides converge on, consistent with the official accessory mechanics:
Finish the dress first
Sew the commission dress before trimming. Lace Trim is pinned onto a finished garment, so complete the sewing step, then head back to the shop.
Open the Accessories corner
Trim lives with the other decorations — buttons, bows and appliqué — not with the fabric bolts.
Filter by Lace Trim
Use the Lace Trim filter and buy an item that appears under it. The filter is the authority; the item’s display name is not.
Pin until the counter hits 100 cm
Pin the trim onto the dress and watch the commission counter. Community reports suggest a single length may not reach 100 cm — expect to add a second stretch.

When the counter will not move
This section reports community findings, clearly labelled — they are not official statements. The one official fact here is the Build 403 fix, from the developers’ patch notes.
Build 403 fixed missing Lace Trim tags
The official Build 403 patch notes (September 22, 2026) fixed some lace items that were missing their Lace Trim tag — so a counter stuck at launch may simply be old news. Patch first, then re-check the filter. Build 410 (September 24) lists no further lace fix.
The lace-fabric workaround does not work
A "use lace fabric instead" tip circulated on the Steam forums as a fix. Players who tested it report the counter stayed at 0/100 — consistent with the official framing of trims as accessories, not fabrics.
Some items are inconsistent
Players disagree about specific items — Black Lace is named as counting for some and not for others. Test a short stretch before buying a pile of any single trim.
Stalled counters after the patch
Scattered reports of stalled counters persist after Build 403, but no universal bug is confirmed. If a filter-listed item still will not count, email [email protected] with the commission name, item name, counter value and build number.
How to place Lace Trim cleanly
Techniques from community guides for getting trim to sit right on the garment:
Use short pin runs on curves
Drop a pin every few centimetres: more pins mean the trim hugs curves and folds instead of cutting across them. Start on the hem, and zoom and rotate the camera to reach backs and cuffs.
Fix clipping or upside-down trim
Click a red pin on the trim to open the edit panel — rotation, size, raise/lower, plus Duplicate and Reset; hold a button to change values faster. Tilt clipping trim up a little; if it is upside down, drag the other way.
Turn on the Rotation Gizmo
For direct 3D rotation, enable the Accessory Rotation Gizmo in Settings.
Move or extend a run
Trim only edits while the Accessories menu is open. Hover the trim and click a pin to reveal the red pins: drag one to move it, click one to keep extending the run.
